Additional Services
I also provide a range of other services that many client’s have required over the years. I also work with another very experienced craftsman and master cabinet maker whose skills perfectly compliment my own.
Desk Leathering
The surface leather on a desk will become worn or faded with use or exposure to direct sunlight. I replace desk and table leathers of all shapes and sizes and am able to offer a wide range of colours from stock or match the tone or an existing leather to your specification.
Desk leathers are available in a range of thicknesses and qualities. From skivers- sheep or goat hide to thick rolled and compressed cow hide I can source numerous deferent styles and textures from the traditional to contemporary.
With regard to the embossed decorative patterns applied to decorate a leather, you will be able to choose from a large selection of different designs to either match as closely as possible to your original or alternatively construct your own combination of tooling to suit.
Cabinet Lining
Within many quality items of furniture whether display cabinets, bookcases or drinks cabinets it is usual for the interior finish to be lined with material. This most often is velvet or silk which is either directly glued onto the internal timber or adhered to thick backing card first then applied to line the interior.
I can offer all interior surfaces to be lined with your choice of material, and I always have in stock a range of velvet of differing colours which I find to be popular and or can source something more unique to suit your taste.
Key cutting, lock repair and servicing
Furniture locks are a typical source of problems. Whether it is a missing key, seized or worn lock I can resolve the issue.
When completing a full restoration project, I always include the servicing of any relevant lock within an item of furniture. Over time a lock housing will become filled with a surprising amount of dirt, fluff and all manner of items from the end of a child pencil to a broken end of a key itself.
Once cleaned out, the lock parts are examined and any overly worn elements are replaced, typically the small internal spring and centre locating pin.
The most common problem I come across and unsurprisingly are missing keys which I think are always nice to have to complete a piece of quality furniture even if the item is rarely locked.
In addition to all aspects of repair and restoration undertaken, I also work in conjunction with another very experienced craftsman and master cabinetmaker and our skills compliment one another perfectly. His skills and experience encompass all aspects of furniture making from large bespoke structural pieces to the most complex and intricate carved items of furniture, elaborate staircases and more.
